For most local businesses the website matters less than the Google listing, and both matter less than having a phone number people can find. Worth doing in that order.

What that looks like
You don't come up when people search for you
Usually a missing or unclaimed Google listing, or the wrong primary category. Often fixable in an afternoon.
Your email goes to spam
Almost always missing or wrong authentication records on your domain. It's a specific, checkable fix.
Whoever built your site is gone
No logins, no idea where it's hosted, can't change the phone number on it. It can be traced and recovered more often than people expect.
