Networks & Wi-Fi
Bad Wi-Fi gets blamed on the internet company about ninety percent of the time and it's almost never the internet company. It's coverage, or a consumer router doing a commercial job, or twelve devices fighting over one channel.
What's covered
What you get
- Survey of what you actually have and where the dead spots are
- Business access points, placed where they're needed, not where there's a socket
- Separate guest Wi-Fi so customers aren't on your business network
- Wired runs for the things that shouldn't be wireless: registers, printers, cameras
- Router, switch and firewall setup with the defaults changed
- Labelled cabinet and a diagram, so the next person isn't guessing
- Working with your internet provider when the problem really is theirs
When people call
What that looks like
The Wi-Fi drops in one part of the building
Usually coverage, sometimes interference, occasionally a cable someone stapled through. It's diagnosable and it's fixable.
The card reader or register keeps disconnecting
Point-of-sale equipment on shared Wi-Fi is a bad arrangement. Moving it to its own wired run or its own network usually ends it.
You're moving or fitting out a space
The cheapest time to get cabling right is before the walls close. Worth a conversation early even if you use someone else to pull it.
Not sure if this is your problem?
Call and describe it. If it's something we can talk you through in five minutes, that's what happens and there's no bill.
